Darrell A. Thorvaldson has been engaged in real estate appraisals and consultations since 1994.   He began his firm in 2004 with an office in Brandon, Manitoba, and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba as a senior associate in the firm Hoffer Wilkinson & Associates Ltd. (2008-2009).  He now manages his Winnipeg based firm, and professionally appraises property within the City of Winnipeg and across the Province of Manitoba.    He is Managing Partner of Verra Group Valuation - a national appraisal company with independent appraisers providing consistent, diligent and reliable valuation solutions throughout Canada.   

Darrell joined the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1996 and earned his AACI designation in 2003. Since that time, he has served the AIC as President of the Appraisal Institute of Canada - Manitoba Association, and Chair - Investigating Committee, a national Professional Practice Committee that investigates complaints and consumer enquiries as they relate to the Canadian Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and Code of Ethics (CUSPAP).  In 2011/2012, he served as the AIC Counsellor, Professional Practice by the AIC Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.  In June, 2015, he was voted by his peers to sit on the AIC Board of Directors as Manitoba's National Director.  He is Chair of the Appraisal Institute of Canada's Standards Sub Committee, a national committee charged to review and improve the Canadian Standards (CUSPAP).  Darrell has been a contributing author with publication in the Canadian Property Valuation – the official publication of the Appraisal Institute of Canada.  He has been a lead instructor for the AIC Professional Practice Training Seminar held on Ottawa, Ontario.  He is also designated as a Professional Agrologist with the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists (MIA).    He holds memberships with the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), Canadian Association of Business Economists (CABE), WinnipegREALTORS, and the Manitoba Real Estate Association.

Since becoming an independent professional appraiser, he has prepared many real estate appraisal and consulting reports on a wide range of property types, including commercial, investment, industrial, special purpose properties, rural, agricultural and urban properties.

Before opening his firm, Darrell provided 17 years professional service to both private and public commercial, agricultural and residential financial sectors as a mortgage lender (TD Bank) and regional manager (Province of Manitoba).
